FOORD BLOW FOR PIRATES
POOLE’S recent signing Vinnie Foord faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured wrist in a crash at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.
Foord, who recently replaced Max Perry in the Pirates’ line-up, came to grief in his final ride after an impressive performance in the club’s NDL Individual event, ironically when he clipped the back wheel of Perry on the back straight.
After visiting A&E after the meeting, he will require a further appointment on July 3 to determine the need or otherwise for surgery.
Promoter Dan Ford said: “Everyone who was at the meeting on Wednesday will have seen Vinnie’s dreadful crash and I think we were all very relieved to see him walk away from it.
“Our thoughts are with Vinnie right now and I am sure I speak on behalf of all fans when wishing him a speedy recovery.
“He may have only recently joined us but I feel he has made an instant impact with the supporters. His racing attitude is first class and as we saw before that crash, he has the ability to be a real force in the sport.”
