FLINT TO THE MAX!

LEON Flint raced to the second paid maximum of his senior career as Berwick completed a BSN Series double over Edinburgh at Shielfield Park.

Bandits skipper Flint scored 14+1 from five rides in the 51-39 win which sets up a group decider at Glasgow on Friday with both teams on five points.

Rory Schlein was also in the major points with 13+1 in a meeting which saw the Monarchs hampered by a Heat 1 crash after which captain Josh Pickering was forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury.

Craig Cook top scored for the Monarchs with 11, and both they and Premiership club King’s Lynn will anxiously await news on Pickering.

Flint said: “There have been some disappointing moments in the opening few weeks of the season, but everything clicked tonight.

“While I’m delighted with my own maximum it was also a fantastic performance from the team and the backing of the fans tonight was great too. A big thank you to them.

“But I still think we have a lot more to give and we now go into next weekend on a high and with a lot to play for.”

Edinburgh’s Lasse Fredriksen (6+1) said: “We lost Josh in the first heat so we all had to take extra heats, and that’s tough at Berwick.

“We got better as we went on I thought, although we got beat and at least we should all know the track when we come back in the league.”
