CUP FINAL SATURDAY SWITCH

POOLE have taken an early decision to move the second leg of the Championship KO Cup Final to this Saturday (October 21).

The Pirates were due to host Scunthorpe on Wednesday but the meeting has been put back to the weekend because of an inclement weather forecast.

It will be the first time in over sixty years that a Poole side will have ridden an official fixture at Wimborne Road on a Saturday, when on April 13, 1963, the Pirates beat Exeter 48-30.

Promoter Dan Ford said: “It doesn’t matter how many different weather forecasts I look at, the story remains the same. Wednesday is set to be a horrible day weather-wise and certainly not one to try and risk staging an important Cup Final on.

So I have been in touch with Scunthorpe and they have agreed to defer the second leg to Saturday evening at 7.30pm.

“Our normal start time, will I hope, still give those fans who like to follow us and both AFC Bournemouth followers and our near neighbours Poole Town FC enough time to get to the stadium after their respective home matches.”
