COMETS SEEK TO RE-GROUP
WORKINGTON boss James Denham is confident their brief two-week pause will re-energise his team ahead of this weekend’s MAXiCab KO Cup clashes with Edinburgh.
Denham admits the Comets’ recent displays against Scunthorpe and Redcar fell well below expectations and he is looking for a positive response against the Monarchs.
He said: “We win and lose as a team – no individual performances are to blame. That said, we simply must improve. End of.
“It was hugely disappointing to lose at home by some distance to Redcar, there’s no doubt they have built a formidable team, but we are more than capable and should beat any team at home – especially for the paying fans that come week in, week out.
“We have the rescheduled first round KO Cup tie coming this weekend against Edinburgh, and I think this two-week break is needed to wipe the slate clean and go again this weekend.”
