COMETS FLYING HIGH

WORKINGTON stormed to a 61-29 win over depleted Edinburgh to remain level on points with Berwick at the top of the Cab Direct Championship.

Australian youngster Tate Zischke raced to a 15-point maximum for the Comets whilst Troy Batchelor and Antti Vuolas both scored 11 from four rides, and captain Craig Cook was involved in four 5-1s on his way to 9+4.

Paco Castagna, with 11, won two races for the Monarchs and also beat Cook in Heat 15 but it completed a difficult weekend for the Armadale side who used rider replacement for injured No.1 Josh Pickering.

Castagna said: “One of the toughest days for us as a team. Last night I stayed with the management after the meeting to try and help find a guest for Josh but we couldn’t find anyone, so I think they (Workington) were happy to see Josh wasn’t riding today.

“It is a tough loss and we are going to have to dig very, very deep.”
