BIG START FOR SCORPIONS
SCUNTHORPE are counting down to an exciting opening to 2025 when racing at Cab Direct Championship level gets underway in April.
The Scorpions will host the prestigious League Riders’ Championship event in the first meeting of the season at the Eddie Wright Raceway on April 6.
Meanwhile Good Friday (April 18) sees them host Redcar in the BSN Series, with both meetings having 3pm starts, and it is hoped to add an NDL clash to the latter as a double-header.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “This year is almost guaranteed to be a very exciting year of speedway at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
“We are highly honoured to be staging the Championship League Riders’ Championship at Scunthorpe on Sunday, April 6. It follows a day after the Championship Pairs at Workington, and hopefully travelling fans will make a weekend of it and attend both meetings.
“Beyond that, the Scorpions will host Redcar Bears on Good Friday, and that is always a good fixture, with a number of fans making the trip from Teesside to join our own faithful supporters on the terraces.
“We’ve qualified for the Cab Direct Championship play-offs for the last two years and that will again be a major aim, although this time we want to win them, while we’d also love to win back the MAXiCab Knockout Cup that we won in such memorable style at Poole in 2023.”
