BEARS WIN IS BRUMMIES BLOW
REDCAR pulled off a 46-44 win at Birmingham to further consolidate their position in the Cab Direct Championship play-off places.
Youngster Jason Edwards was the hero for the Bears with a score of 11+2 at reserve, and he was involved in two vital 5-1s in Heats 12 and 14 to secure the points.
The Brummies hit back with 5-1s of their own in Heats 13 and 15 through skipper Justin Sedgmen (14) and guest Josh Pickering (11+2) but they fell just short with defeat another blow to their top six hopes.
Birmingham manager Stewart Dickson said: “I think the only word I can use to sum that one up is frustrating.
“We kept getting ourselves back in the match and then kept losing it again.
“It was a much better performance – but ultimately we lost the meeting again. Redcar will feel they were worthy winners, but for me that’s one that slipped away from us.”
