BEARS RELISH TOUGH TEST

REDCAR manager Gavin Parr regards the strength of the Newcastle Select side as a positive test for his own riders on Good Friday.

The Bears warm up for Cab Direct Championship action with the Tyne/Tees Trophy clash against a team representing their local rivals, who sadly closed in 2022 but are still expected to bring a large contingent of supporters.

The Diamonds Select team will include a powerful heat-leader trio of Steve Worrall, Lewis Kerr and Ben Barker, all of whom have previously raced for both clubs.

Parr said: “Statistically, we won’t face a team with a higher overall average in the early stages of the season!

“The Newcastle team is way above the 38-point average limit, but it is a good test for us at the start of the season.”
