BEARS LEAD BY FOUR

REDCAR will take a narrow advantage to Plymouth tonight (Saturday) for the second leg of their MAXiCab KO Cup semi-final after a 47-43 home win at the ECCO Arena.

Reserve Jody Scott inspired a Bears comeback as they recovered from an early four-point deficit, with the Gladiators ahead by two with six races remaining.

Scott and Simon Lambert were set for a 5-1 in Heat 12 only for Lambert to suffer a puncture, but Scott then passed Ben Barker on the last bend of Heat 14 as the hosts did secure a maximum advantage.

Nicolai Klindt won Heats 13 and 15 to ensure the Bears won the meeting, and he scored 13 with Scott on 12+2. The Gladiators’ top two of Danny King (12+1) and Scott Nicholls (11+2) were both unbeaten in their first three rides.

Both teams are unchanged for the second leg at the Coliseum.
