BEARS HELD TO SIX
REDCAR were restricted to a 48-42 win over Oxford at the ECCO Arena to leave their MAXiCab KO Cup semi-final nicely poised at the halfway stage.
The Bears looked set for a significant advantage as they collected four 5-1s in the first six races, and they led the first leg by 14 points after Heat 9.
But the Cheetahs fought back well as they picked up four 5-1s in the last five races to narrow the gap heading back to Cowley on Sunday.
Charles Wright top-scored for the Bears on his 200th appearance for the club with 10+2 whilst Jake Allen guested well with 10+1, and Jake Mulford chipped in with 9+1.
Sam Masters won three races and scored 12 for the Cheetahs whilst Francis Gusts (9) took the flag in both Heats 13 and 15 as the visitors clawed vital points back.
