BANDITS SECURE BORDER TROPHY
BERWICK clinched the Border Trophy with a 47-43 win at Workington to go alongside their 22-point first leg victory.
The Bandits were successful in a last-heat decider in what proved to be a far closer contest at Northside, with Comets newcomers Antti Vuolas and Tate Zischke both impressing.
Vuolas scored 11 for the home side, including three race wins, but the Bandits’ top two of Rory Schlein (11+1) and Lewis Kerr (11) were both in form, with Kerr taking the flag in the decisive Heat 15 on the day.
Berwick manager Stewart Dickson said: “It’s a satisfying way to end what has by and large been a good weekend for us.
“Every rider has recorded at least one heat win over the 30 heats, and we had to dig deep at times against Workington.
“There’s also a few things to work on but we now go into the BSN Series with both momentum and confidence.”
