BANDITS BACK ON SONG
BERWICK bounced back from a home defeat last weekend to put Cab Direct Championship points on the board with an away win at Redcar.
The Bandits inflicted more home misery on the Bears with a 47-43 victory at the ECCO Arena, with middle-order pairing Drew Kemp and Jye Etheridge heavily involved in the outcome.
Kemp top-scored with 11 points skipper Rory Schlein added 10, whilst Charles Wright led the way for the Bears with 12 as they slipped to a second home defeat in the league.
Berwick boss Stewart Dickson said: “The boys responded well after we had an earnest conversation during the Poole meeting.
“I am delighted for them and for the team as a whole. We’ve immediately righted the Pirates’ blemish.
“But it is important that we get consistency of performance week in, week out rather than the ups and downs we’ve had at times this season.
“There’s no point doing all the hard work at Redcar and then letting it slip again in the return fixture.”
The sides meet again at Shielfield Park tonight (Saturday) with Richard Lawson taking over as the Berwick guest at No.1.
Ben Barker continues for the Bears in place of Danny King, whilst Dan Thompson covers for Jonas Knudsen who has a commitment in Poland.
