PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS, LEICESTER

FOLLOWING last night’s successful British Youth Championship round at Belle Vue for the 250cc and 125cc classes, the series moves on to Leicester this afternoon (Saturday, 5pm) as the first standalone round of the 2024 season.

All four classes will be competing with a fantastic attendance of 34 riders across the 500cc, 250cc,125cc and 125cc support sections.

Plenty has been spoken about the emergence of William Cairns who is the son of Leicester owner Paul Cairns, and he competes in the 500cc class this where he currently leads having won each the previous three rounds at Redcar, Workington and Belle Vue.

Also competing in this class will be NDL riders William Hocaniuk and Jamie Etherington, as well as talented teenagers Lee Harrison, Ryan Ingram and Laylen Richardson, all of whom will be hoping to catch the eyes of the NDL promoters and no doubt will be included in the league for the 2025 season.

The 250cc class includes series leader Cooper Rushen as well as Leicester regular mascots Seth Norman and Casper Kluczniak, and in this class alone an impressive 10 riders compete.

The 125cc class will have seven riders competing as Oliver Bovingdon will be hoping to stretch his lead, a further five riders in the 125cc support class, including two female riders, Jessica Cox and Chole Davis, as well as Scottish representative Callum Hague making his Youth Championship debut.

Speedy recovery to 125cc Rider Rueben Marsh who crashed at Belle Vue last night and broke his jaw in two places.

The Young Lions would like to thank the Leicester promotion and the British Youth Championship series sponsors for their continued support in 2024.

Supporters are reminded that the first heat will take place at 5pm.
