PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP (Edinburgh & Workington)
A BUSY weekend of British Youth action sees 32 riders compete at Edinburgh today (Saturday, 1.30pm) and 35 at Workington on Sunday (midday).
And as an added bonus, the weekend also sees the opening two rounds of the inaugural Women’s Open Championship, with four riders competing.
British riders Katie Gordon, Morgan Leonard and Wendy McAllan are joined by German racer Celina Liebmann who appeared in the SGP2 series last year as a wild card.
British Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “It’s going to be a fantastic weekend with so many riders competing, and this is all credit to the dedication of the riders and their families.
“I am certainly looking forward to returning to Armadale, as we all know such a specialist track that always produces good racing whichever level that is at – and also returning to the fantastic Workington venue just seven days after they hosted the British Under 21 Qualifier. For anyone who is yet to visit the Northside venue, it is highly recommended.
“There will be quite a few local riders taking part this year, and that is all credit to the people at the Edinburgh Academy who have produced so much talent in a really short space of time.
“At the Belle Vue Youth round last month I’m sure the Edinburgh Academy staff would have been proud to have seen a one, two and three in the support class with Rocco Webb winning the round and Lewis Hague and Liam Morris taking up the rostrum places.”
The Young Lions would like to thank the promotions at both Edinburgh and Workington for their continued support of British Youth Speedway as well as their series sponsors Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, Wessex Marine, Brian Royle, AGF Plant Ltd, Friends of Speedway, Foxbury Motors, Ignite Insurance Brokers, Northern Scaffolding Solutions, Rentruck of Rochadale, Gordon Pairman and the members of the BSP Ltd.
