PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP, Belle Vue

BELLE Vue stage the first round of the British Youth Championship tonight (Friday) ahead of their NDL clash with Berwick.

The 500cc and 250cc categories are involved and the former class will produce a new British Champion this year as several 2020 competitors have now exceeded the Under-16 age limit and have moved into regular league racing.

Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “The favourites for this year’s championship will be NDL riders Sam McGurk (Belle Vue Colts) and Ben Trigger (Leicester Cubs) although it would be unfair to rule out any of the riders out at this stage.”

The exciting 250cc class will consist of the top three riders from the 2020 Championship Luke Harrison, Max James and Ashton Vale.

Vatcher added: “These top three from last year’s series will not be able to sit on their laurels as this class has increased since last year and now includes the 2020 British 125cc Champion Sonny Springer and Scotland-based Ace Pijper, son of International rider Theo, amongst others.”
