PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH (500cc/250cc), SCUNTHORPE
THE third round of the British Youth Championship at 500cc and 250cc levels takes place at Scunthorpe today (Sunday).
The event will be staged after the Scorpions’ Championship clash with Edinburgh, with Ben Trigger and Luke Harrison defending perfect records in their respective classes so far.
GB Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “With Ben and Luke Harrison having already won the first two rounds at Belle Vue and Redcar, the other competing riders will need to keep them within reach if they are going to have a serious challenge of winning a British Championship in 2021.
“Ben already has an impressive 11-point advantage over his competitors, so it will be up to one of the others to be taking the top rostrum place this weekend.
“Unfortunately, Sam McGurk is still recovering from his leg injury so this round has come too early for him but after Scunthorpe, with a six-week break hopefully he will be back for round 4 in August.
“Luke leads the 250cc class by eight points, so if he wins this round will be well on the way to claiming back-to-back British 250cc titles.”
The Young Lions would like to thank their series sponsors for their continued support – Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, Wessex Marine, Rentruck of Rochdale, Gordon Pairman (RMCS Racing), Friends of Speedway, ATPI Manchester, Association of Referees, KanDysoft Solutions, Foxbury Motors and Creative Doc Productions.
