BRITISH YOUTH WEEKEND PREVIEW
THE 2026 British Youth Championship continues this weekend with two rounds taking place at Redcar today (Saturday, midday) and Leicester tomorrow (Sunday) with a 6pm start.
These are the first standalone rounds since Glasgow held Round 1 in April although both Workington and Belle Vue have held rounds which have been shared with other events.
Again, fantastic numbers across the four classes of 500cc, 250cc, 125cc and 125cc Support with 25 riders taking part at Redcar and 27 at Leicester.
With three rounds already completed and a further five rounds to go Stene Pijper leads the way in the 500cc class on 46 Championship points, but cannot rest on his laurels as Casper Kluczniak, Charlie Sothwick, Oli Bovingdon and Ollie Binns are all within striking distance if Pijper was to have an off day.
With small numbers in this year’s 250cc class again it is a chase for the Championship with Archie Rolph currently on a maximum score of 54 points but both Kane Newby and Demi Blu Harris not too far behind on 46 and 42 respectively.
The 125cc class is the most competitive for a number of years with Fraser Buckle currently leading on 48 points, Lewis Hague just two behind on 46 and Oscar Berwick on 40.
However, with each rider having to drop a round Buckle, Hague and Berwick’s scores will change, George Climo, who has already missed a round, is on a score of 34 so is certainly well in contention for this title.
In the support class Seb Kelly is currently leading with 46 points from three rounds but Aston Knott, who has only competed in two rounds, is placed in second on 36 having won both rounds he has completed in
