BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL REPORT

THE 2024 British Youth Championship concluded over last weekend with the final two rounds taking place at Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It was another successful season for the Youth Championship and all credit goes to not only all 47 riders that took part across the season and the four classes, but also the dedication of all their families.

There were standalone rounds at Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leicester with Belle Vue, Plymouth, Redcar and Workington hosting rounds alongside their league fixtures.

The 250cc class were involved in all eight rounds, and the 500cc competed in seven rounds with both the 125cc and 125cc Support classes competing in six rounds.

The points system for the Championship is similar to the scoring system in the Speedway GP where the winner gets 18 points, 2nd 16, 3rd 14, 4th 12, then 11, 10, 9 etc etc.

However, to allow riders to drop a round, maybe if they are unavailable because of a family holiday or a school exam for example, each rider’s final scores are based on one dropped round, so for those riders who competed in all their rounds they would drop their lowest score from the series total points.

The series again was very exciting and although the British Champions were all confirmed with a round to go, the battles for the rostrum places went right down to the final heats in each of the four classes.

Many Congratulations to the three British Champions with William Cairns and Cooper Rushen winning their respective classes, 500cc and 250cc respectively, for the first time, whilst Oliver Bovingdon retained the 125cc title that he previously won in 2023.
