WOLVERHAMPTON enjoyed a dream start to their Premiership campaign with Thursday’s 58-32 win at King’s Lynn.
The Monmore side racked up their biggest away victory in over eight years with American Broc Nicol making a stunning debut with 13+1 at reserve.
The visitors collected six 5-1s and limited the hosts to just four race wins with Sam Masters (10+1) also dropping just one point on the night. Skipper Lewis Kerr scored eight for the hosts.
Wolves boss Peter Adams said: “It was an unexpected result that, the boys were brilliant from start to finish and kept their foot on the pedal from start to finish, so naturally I’m very pleased.
“It was a magnificent debut for Broc, he made good starts and he was aggressive on the track. I’m sure he will be a real ace in the pack.
“We couldn’t have wished for a better start to the season, but it is only the start and we have a long, long way to go.”
Stars co-promoter Dale Allitt said: “It’s not good enough and we know that, but we have started to try and repair the damage immediately.
“We are a team, and by that I mean riders and management, and we all stand up and take responsibility for this. We apologise and we urge all our fans to stay with us. It’s a short season and we need to try and make the most of it.”
