PREMIERSHIP GRAND FINAL UPDATE

SHEFFIELD’S home leg of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Grand Final against Belle Vue tonight (Thursday) has been postponed.

The decision has been taken due to a worsening weather forecast for this evening with rain set to hit the Owlerton area around the scheduled start time and then set in.

It means the Grand Final will now take place next week with the Tigers still hosting the first leg, which will now take place on Monday October 12 (7.30pm).

The second leg decider at the National Speedway Stadium will now switch to Friday October 16 (7.30pm).

Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We’ve studied all the forecasts and there is severe weather coming in this evening.

“We have worked hard all season to get into the Grand Final and everyone deserves for these two meetings to be a proper spectacle.

“Even if we were able to start the meeting it’s not fair on the fans or the riders to end up just trying to get to Heat 10, so we’ve taken an early decision and we now look forward to next week.”
