KERR CALLS IT A DAY

POOLE title winner Lewis Kerr has announced his decision to hang up his kevlars after nearly two decades in the sport.

The 36-year-old, who has battled back from injuries on several occasions, ironically crashed out of the Pirates’ title decider against Scunthorpe on Wednesday.

Kerr started his career in King’s Lynn’s NDL team back in 2010 and spent several spells with the Stars at senior level, finally clinching club silverware for the first time with Redcar in the 2022 Championship Pairs prior to his recent stint in Dorset.

He said: “I’m gutted to be honest to have had to pull out tonight, but I had hit my head quite badly and thought I would be okay.

“But then my vision just sort of began to go, and it just wasn’t worth the risk and letting everybody down.

“But they covered me very well. I have had two years here with Poole and two league titles. That feels so good.”
