LIGHTCAP TITLE QUEST

POOLE’S American star Slater Lightcap is hoping to repeat a feat achieved by countryman Greg Hancock when he bids for a league title with the club on Wednesday.

Mid-season signing Lightcap will be part of the Pirates team who look to overturn an eight-point deficit when they host Scunthorpe in the second leg of the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final.

Four-time World Champion Hancock spent the closing stages of the 2013 season with the Dorset club as a replacement for the injured Chris Holder, and became a title winner at Premiership (Elite League) level when they defeated Birmingham in the decider.

Lightcap said: “We are in a good position. I would love to win a title with the Pirates just as my good friend Greg Hancock managed.

“They say follow in his footsteps, but they are some real big boots to fill!”
