LAMBERT IS WORLD CHAMPION

GREAT Britain’s Robert Lambert is the new speedway World Champion.

The 28-year-old stormed to glory in the final Grand Prix of the season on his home Polish track of Torun, to come out on top in a three-way fight for gold.

Lambert has put together a sensational run of form in the second half of the campaign, with three GP wins and three second places seeing him break the domination of defending champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, who had won the last four titles and six in total.

Lambert’s win in the Final enabled him to finish two points clear of Zmarzlik, who was third on the night, whilst Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz was third overall after finishing runner-up in the meeting.

He is the ninth British FIM speedway World Champion, and the first since Tai Woffinden secured the third and last of his titles back in 2018.

The victory for Lambert will also be celebrated at King’s Lynn, who were his first British club in 2013 and the side with which he spent the majority of his time in the UK.
