MONARCHS ACADEMY ARE NDL CHAMPIONS
EDINBURGH have been crowned WSRA National Development League champions after their only remaining rivals Leicester were defeated at Middlesbrough.
The Lion Cubs went down 53-37 at the Ecco Arena meaning the Monarchs Academy are now uncatchable at the top of the table.
The Armadale side have won all eight of their matches so far, and their big home win over Leicester last Friday all-but guaranteed them the crown.
Monarchs Academy boss Scott Wilson said: “It feels unbelievable, so much hard work goes into this, not just this season but over the years.
“I said when I came in I wanted to win things with this club, and it feels unbelievable.
“When you go into a competition you want to win it, it doesn’t matter what the competition is, that was our goal for the season.
“For tonight I wish the whole team could have been together to celebrate but you see Jordy and Anika (Loftus) and their family and you see the fans at Armadale after the Poole match, and it means the world to them.”
Meanwhile Middlesbrough are up to second in the standings as they also won a Super Heat for the aggregate point against the Lion Cubs, thanks to Ace Pijper and Nathan Ablitt.
