PREVIEW: POOLE v OXFORD (BSN SERIES)

POOLE face Oxford in a crunch clash at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday) where the winners of the BSN Series southern group will be decided.

The Pirates top the standings with five points from three matches and require a win on the night of any kind to confirm a semi-final place.

But the Cheetahs will overhaul them if they avoid defeat in Dorset, and they will travel with confidence having won the reverse fixture 51-39 at Cowley earlier this month.

Poole name an unchanged line-up whilst Oxford bring in Jason Edwards to guest for Erik Riss who remains on the sidelines with illness, and they include two recent Pirates in Anders Rowe and Darryl Ritchings.

Pirates co-promoter Dan Ford said: “It’s a must-win meeting for us, there’s no getting away from that.

“We’ve underperformed in our last two meetings, but now there’s no room for error if we want to reach the semi-finals. It’s all on the line, and we need a big response at home.”

Cheetahs boss Peter Schroeck said: “We’re heading to Poole with confidence on our side. Many teams are defeated before the start of Heat 1 down there, but we’ve won at Wimborne Road in both of the last two seasons and we’ll head to the South Coast with a positive attitude.

“We know that Poole won’t under-estimate us and will be on full alert, but we’ll concentrate on our performance and we’ll see where that takes us.”
