NORTHAMPTON have been given the green light to open their home season on Thursday after passing a Speedway Control Bureau inspection.

The Foxes are clear to host Ipswich in the Knockout Cup after modifications to accommodate the sport at Northampton International Shaleway were completed.

Tuesday’s events at the Brafield venue also included a track test with riders taking to the circuit initially on an individual basis, and then building up to trial races involving four riders at a time.

Foxes co-promoter Tony Gaul said: “Eight weeks ago the company Northampton Speedway Ltd never existed, and without the people behind the scenes this would never have happened.

“Even today the amount of work that has gone in from volunteers, all the board, I just can’t thank everybody enough. I look forward to a great season!”
