King’s Lynn Stars v Belle Vue Aces

BELLE Vue made it three wins out of three in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership with an impressive 49-41 away victory at King’s Lynn.

The Aces became the first top-flight team to win on the road in the league this year having led for much of the meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The gap was just two points after a Lynn 5-1 in Heat 12 but the visitors’ spearhead of Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley swept to a big 5-1 of their own in Heat 13 to restore full supremacy.

Top scorer was Zach Cook (13+1) and he won both Heats 14 and 15 as the away win was secured, whilst Kurts scored 10 and Bewley 9+2 in a strong all-round display. Max Fricke won three races to score 11 for the home side and Jan Kvech added 10.

Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said : “From one to seven the boys were solid. We got off to a winning start, we had the momentum with us and we were all learning and working together as a collective as the track was changing.

“We had no weak links, and that helps. The boys really gelled together and helped each other out, which was really nice to see, and I think that contributed to the performance and the result.

“Zach was on fire tonight and he deserved Heat 15. He wasn’t too impressed when I gave him gate one, but he certainly made the most of it!”

Stars skipper Chris Harris said: “It’s a disappointing result. We knew it was going to be tough, Belle Vue are a solid side and we just didn’t have our gating gloves on tonight.

“There are no excuses, the better team won on the night. They were sharper, they seemed hungrier for it, and we have to regroup and come back next time.”
