PREVIEW: POOLE v REDCAR (BSN SERIES FINAL 2nd leg)

POOLE and Redcar contest the last item of senior silverware this season with the second leg of the BSN Series Final at Wimborne Road tonight (Friday).

The Bears travel south with a narrow two-point advantage from last weekend’s opening clash on Teesside as they look to prevent the Pirates from completing back-to-back trophy Trebles at Championship level.

The Dorset side have already retained the Cab Direct Championship and the MAXiCab KO Cup, and they name a full-strength line-up for their final match of the season, whilst Redcar operate rider replacement for long-term illness victim Erik Riss.

Poole manager Neil Middleditch said: “The job’s not done yet. Redcar can ride our track well and so they do pose a threat, but you can’t complain about being just two points down.

“It is close enough at this stage, but there is a lot of racing to come.”

Redcar star Danny King said: “It was important for our confidence to win (the first leg) and the performance shows that we deserve to be in these Finals, but this time we are aiming to come out with the gold medal instead of silver.

“We need to hit the ground running from the off. It’s really important that we get off to a good start.”
