MORLEY TAKES IWADE VICTORY

KENT favourite Ben Morley completed the club’s home season in style with victory in the Iwade Championship on Sunday.

Morley had to work his way through the semi-final after scoring seven points in the qualifying races, whilst Cooper Rushen and Vinnie Foord progressed automatically as the top two.

The semi-finals were won by Jack Kingston and Morley, and despite taking the unfavoured gate three in the Final it was Morley who sprinted away to fend off the close attentions of Foord, with Rushen third and Kingston missing out on a rostrum place due to mechanical failure.

Morley said: “I’d had a mid-meeting blip but when I was in the semi-final I knew I needed to make the start and get to the final and it was all to play for.

“Having the last pick for gates almost helped as I didn’t have to overthink it. Luckily, I made the start I wanted again and then I hit the chequered flag.”
