PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v LEICESTER (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
CUP Finalists King’s Lynn and Leicester have an immediate reunion after last week’s trophy decider as they meet tonight (Monday) in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
It was the Lions who collected the silverware by following up a 45-45 draw in Norfolk with a thumping 60-30 win back on their own circuit.
The race for the Premiership play-offs is also in their favour as Leicester sit third in the table whilst the Stars are 12 points behind fourth-placed Sheffield, and are now looking to make a late run.
New averages for August mean a revised riding order for King’s Lynn, with Jan Kvech taking over at No.1, and skipper Nicolai Klindt moving back into the top five.
Tobias Thomsen guests for the absent Ben Cook, whilst youngster Luke Harrison has now been confirmed in Lynn’s Rising Star berth for the remainder of the season.
Harrison said: “I’m always learning from being around riders who have either been in the Grand Prix or are in the Grand Prix, and from riders are at the top level, and that’s good for me.
“King’s Lynn have been really good with me. There might be some other teams you go in where they would put a bit of pressure on you to score, but I’ve not had any pressure put on me at all.
“Rob (Lyon) is always happy for me to try my absolute best and see what I get at the end of the night.”
With the KO Cup already in the trophy cabinet, Lions boss Stewart Dickson is turning his attentions back to league business, and the visitors will operate rider replacement for the injured Luke Becker at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Dickson said: “We’ve got the Cup and now we’d like to make it an even better season, but there’s a long way to go yet.
“I hark back to 2019 when we won the Championship Shield and then we won the league a few months later, and it would be very nice to do the same again.
“We know it’s going to be tough. There are some good teams out there but there’s no reason why we can’t, if we hit form at the right time.
