TIGERS SUPERB AT REDCAR

GLASGOW raced to an impressive 48-42 win at Redcar to move to within six points of Cab Direct Championship leaders Poole.

The Tigers were successful on the road for the fifth time this season as they inflicted a first home defeat of the league campaign on the Bears.

The visitors opened up an eight-point lead in the space of five races and restricted any Redcar comeback for the rest of the meeting, with recent signing Villads Nagel hugely impressive.

Danish youngster Nagel scored 11+2 from six rides to back skipper Chris Harris on 14+3, whilst Leon Flint’s 12-point score included a sensational third to first burst past Charles Wright and Danny King in Heat 7.

Wright scored 12+1 for the home side with Jason Edwards picking up 10+1, but the result sees them drop two places to sixth in the table.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “That is a sensational victory and performance from the boys. Redcar are one of the title favourites in my book and we’ve managed to win in some style at their place. 

“I can’t praise the boys enough. Chris was an outstanding leader as usual. But Villads delivered a very special display on his first time at Redcar. 

“Leon probably swung the meeting our way with arguably his best-ever ride for Glasgow. Beating Danny and Charles from the back on their home track is incredible. It also stopped them gaining anything from the tactical sub ride.”
