TIGERS SNATCH SUPER HEAT WIN

GLASGOW closed the gap at the top of the Cab Direct Championship by winning a Super Heat at Berwick after the sides had drawn 45-45 in the regular 15 races.

There were never more than two points between the teams during the meeting as neither could maintain an advantage, and wins for Bandits duo Drew Kemp and Peter Kildemand in the last two races secured a point apiece, as well as the aggregate point for the visitors.

And it would be the Tigers who took the maximum available as Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth got the better of Kemp and Kildemand in the early stages of the Super Heat, for their second such success this season after also being victorious in the same way at Scunthorpe.

Over the 15 regular races Howarth scored 14+1 and Harris 14 with the contribution of reserves Max Perry (9) and Freddy Hodder (5+2) also crucial. Kildemand racked up 16 for the Bandits and Kemp scored 11.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It’s a massive result considering we were missing half our team. 

“In the end it was our experienced pair of Chris and Kyle who got the job done. They produced real grit and determination on the first bend in the Super Heat to force themselves in front. 

“But the result is just as much down to our reserves Freddy and Max who produced a brilliant Heat 14 to share the race and give us a chance to get the result. 

“To manage to get the points in such difficult circumstances is very satisfying.”
