PREVIEW: POOLE v WORKINGTON (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

POOLE have scored at least 51 points in all five Cab Direct Championship home matches this season – and they will need to do so again tonight (Wednesday) to take the maximum against Workington.

The Pirates suffered a 12-point defeat at the GT Tyres Arena earlier this month in a result which also indicated the potential of the Comets, who travel south with optimism of pulling off a big result on the road.

And it means a return to Wimborne Road for Workington’s Vinnie Foord, who spent the second half of last season with the Pirates and played his part in their Treble success.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “We have to focus on maintaining good form at home and I guess you could say we have a score to settle from our trip to Workington.

“There is absolutely everything to ride for as we need to win big to claim the aggregate point after our 12-point defeat at their place.”

Workington manager James Denham said: “Poole have only lost twice this season, but we are on a really rich vein of form and we are going down there to win.

“Picking up the aggregate will be a huge bonus and something not many other teams will bag over Poole this season. We are 12 up and we will have to be firing once again in all departments like we were against Scunthorpe on Saturday if we want it.

“Vinnie is a former Poole rider and he is right up for it, as are the whole team who are brimming with confidence after some fantastic results.”
