PREVIEW: GLASGOW v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

GLASGOW host Redcar at Ashfield tonight (Friday) with both teams looking to enhance their Cab Direct Championship play-off hopes.

The Tigers are second in the table but have not raced since a heavy defeat at leaders Poole just over a fortnight ago, and their last home match was way back on June 20.

Meanwhile the Bears missed out at Edinburgh last Friday, but they did collect an important aggregate point to remain in touch with the top four with matches in hand.

Glasgow are without Leon Flint who is on European Pairs duty with Great Britain in Latvia this weekend, and Tate Zischke comes in to guest, and they will operate rider replacement for Dan Thompson who has a knee injury. The visitors bring in Jye Etheridge to guest for Erik Riss who remains sidelined with illness.

Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “It’s exciting to get back to Ashfield and we really need a good run of fixtures now. It’s about winning meetings and getting that momentum back we had in the first month or so of the season. I want a statement win from the boys to show what we are all about. 

“We seem to be in good shape again but we want to get some wins under our belt. The fixtures come thick and fast after Friday so that will be good for us.”

Redcar star Danny King said: “It’s not ideal that we have lost Erik, but we need to remain positive as I believe we are well in contention for silverware and there is certainly no need to panic despite a couple of away defeats.

“We are going up with the attitude that we can win the meeting, we have riders who go well around Ashfield but they are a solid outfit so we need to keep it as close as possible as a minimum.”
