PREVIEW: IPSWICH v KING’S LYNN (PREM KO CUP S/F)

EAST Anglian rivals Ipswich and King’s Lynn race off tonight (Thursday) at Foxhall for a place in the Premiership KO Cup Final.

The Stars take a six-point lead into the meeting after a 48-42 win in Norfolk last month – one of three home wins they have achieved over the Witches this season.

But the Witches have returned to strong form on their own track in recent weeks with fewer injury concerns, and the prize for both sides is a chance for silverware in the Final against Leicester.

Ipswich once again bring in Jason Edwards to guest for Jordan Jenkins in the Rising Star berth, whilst King’s Lynn continue to operate rider replacement for Niels-Kristian Iversen who is out with rib damage. Lewis Kerr guests in the middle order for Ben Cook.

Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “Thursday is the biggest meeting of the season so far. We have raced King’s Lynn four times already this year and we know we beat them by a good scoreline at home earlier in the year.

“The track will be completely different this time compared to the one-off Bank Holiday meeting, so the previous meeting doesn’t hold any significance.

“We know how good we should be, and the focus is on making the Final and looking forward, not back.”

King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “There’s no reason why we can’t show the character we showed on Monday, and we will certainly be going there and giving 100 per cent.

“That’s all you can ever ask of anyone in anything, and if that 100 per cent is good enough on Thursday then it will be good enough to get us through.”
