HUME SURGERY SUCCESSFUL

BERWICK skipper Danyon Hume has undergone successful surgery to stabilise the two vertebrae in his back damaged during his spectacular crash on Saturday.

Hume was taken to the Northern Specialist Care Hospital in Cramlington after colliding with the bike of opposing rider Jonatan Grahn and being thrown down the home straight at Shielfield Park in the Bandits’ Cab Direct Championship clash with Edinburgh.

The 28-year-old was taken into theatre yesterday (Monday) and was able to confirm to the Borders club’s management later in the evening that surgeons had successfully operated on the damaged vertebrae
