TWO IN A ROW FOR KURTZ

BELLE Vue captain Brady Kurtz kept his World Championship title chase firmly alive by winning Saturday’s FIM Grand Prix of Sweden in Malilla.

Kurtz made it back-to-back GP triumphs following on from his victory in Gorzow a fortnight ago as he dominated the second running of the Final, having also been ahead when Ipswich’s Jason Doyle came to grief.

With World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik taking second place on the night, it means Kurtz has trimmed the gap to nine points with three rounds remaining.

And in another tremendous night for the Aces, Kurtz’s team-mate Dan Bewley finished third to close to within two points of Fredrik Lindgren in the race for the top three overall.

Kurtz said: “Winning in Gorzow was pretty special. I think that’s the one I will definitely remember.

“But winning twice is great – more so because I know the first one wasn’t a fluke. That’s the coolest part in my mind – that I could win again.

“Closing the gap is the goal. I am not sure what to think about the next track in Riga. I have never seen it. But I will try to learn quickly like I have done on all of the other tracks. We will go for the free practice and hopefully find something that’s working, and we’ll go from there.”

Kurtz and Bewley will both be back in action for Belle Vue in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Monday when they race at home to Birmingham.
