PREVIEW: OXFORD v KING’S LYNN (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

OXFORD and King’s Lynn are level on points in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership ahead of their clash at Cowley tonight (Thursday).

The Stars raced to a home win over Birmingham on Monday to go into fifth place on six points with both sides seeking to build a run to put pressure on Leicester above them.

Meanwhile the Spires are racing for the first time in over a fortnight, and their last home meeting went down to the wire as they drew 45-45 with Sheffield before losing out in a Super Heat.

British GP Wild Card Charles Wright takes over at No.1 for Oxford this month with the home side set to be at full strength, whilst the visitors – who won on their previous visit in the KO Cup, and also carry a big advantage for the aggregate point – have Kyle Howarth guesting for the injured Ben Cook, and Jody Scott takes over in the Rising Star berth.

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “The break for the Spires has given us a chance to have a re-set before we get going with the rest of the season.

 “I still believe that we have a good team if everyone clicks on the same night. We just need to find some consistency, starting against King’s Lynn.

“Our next three meetings with the Spires are at home at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium and we need to start getting into the habit of winning our home meetings.”

Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “It’s an important match for us on Thursday. We rode well there in the Knockout Cup earlier in the season and won comfortably, so another result like that would be great.

“But any win is fine because we beat them convincingly at home in the first leg, and we’ll be taking things one at a time because we’ve got quite a few big ones coming including Ipswich at home next week.”
