NEW SIGNING FOR MONARCHS

EDINBURGH have signed 16-year-old Gold Coast born prospect Jordy Loftus.

The youngster spent his formative years racing in Australia and enjoyed success at 250cc level before stepping up to 500cc following his birthday in March.

Loftus has a British passport and will come in at reserve for the Monarchs from their next Cab Direct Championship fixture at Oxford on June 18, replacing Mark Parker who stepped up from their Academy team after the departure of Max James.

He will also race in the NDL, making his debut this Sunday in the away match at Middlesbrough as a replacement for the injured Kyran Lyden.

Loftus said: “I’m excited to join the club and meet all the people and race for you guys.

“I know of Justin Sedgmen and Kye Thomson and I’ve got to know Kye more personally over the past year or so. We practice at the same track in Ipswich [Australia].

“I’ve been watching his technique going around the track and getting some tips off him. I’ve watched every single video you have put up from Armadale, it looks amazing.”
