JAKE MAKES IT THROUGH

BELLE Vue and Redcar racer Jake Mulford is through to the three-round SGP2 (World Under-21) series after negotiating Saturday’s rain-curtailed Qualifier at Glasgow.

Mulford scored seven points from three rides, a total beaten only by Denmark’s Mikkel Andersen who scored nine, with Jan Przanowski of Poland also on seven.

The meeting was abandoned after Heat 12 due to rain, leaving a tie for the fourth qualifying place involving four riders, none of whom could be separated on countback.

The ballot was won by another Polish rider, Antoni Mencel, meaning frustration for Great Britain’s Joe Thompson, Aussie star Tate Zischke and Villads Nagel of Denmark.

Ashton Boughen was one point off the qualifying mark with five, whilst British Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon finished seventh in his qualifier in the Czech Republic, scoring nine points.
