ZAGAR AWAITS BRUMMIES DEBUT

MATEJ Zagar says he can’t wait to get back into British Speedway ahead of his Birmingham debut at home to Leicester on Monday.

The Slovenian star has been away from the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership since helping Belle Vue clinch the league title in 2022, but he has now been temped back to join the Perry Barr club.

And speaking ahead of the Knockout Cup tie against the Lions, Zagar says he was pleasantly surprised his new home surroundings were actually quite familiar.

“I’ve never been a Brummie before but I know this track from before as an away rider and nothing has changed,” he said.

“I turned up at the stadium and everything is the same as it was 11 or 12 years ago whenever it was I was last here.

“I simply love racing in England; I first came to the UK in 2003 and I’ve always really enjoyed it here. Everything is so simple here, I just love the way we race in England.”
