KING’S Lynn remain on course in the National Development Trophy after a 53-35 win over Kent extended their lead at the top of the table.

The Young Stars have won five of their six matches so far, and Max Perry scored a 14+1 paid maximum against the Eagles with skipper Jody Scott adding a 12-point maximum from four rides.

Guest Ryan Ingram (11+2) impressed for the visitors, but the meeting was marred by two injuries to their side as reserve Jamie Etherington broke a wrist in a Heat 2 crash, whilst Ben Morley was also taken to hospital after a heavy Heat 13 fall, although thankfully CT scans confirmed no broken bones.

King’s Lynn boss Jason Pipe said: “After getting beaten at Plymouth on Saturday, we had to bounce back tonight and get the win, so it’s a good result and it leaves us very well placed for the aggregate point.

“I must say though what happened to Kent was very unfortunate, and we all wish their injured riders a speedy recovery. I’ve been in that situation before where things like that happen, with losing riders when you’re already using rider replacement, so I do know how they feel.

“For us though, that’s the best I’ve seen Max Perry ride the King’s Lynn track. I told him afterwards it was a matter of time coming, and it happened tonight, so that was great to see.”

Kent manager David Graveling said: “The result of tonight’s meeting is secondary to the more pressing concerns surrounding the wellbeing of two individuals.

“The club extends its heartfelt best wishes to Jamie and Ben, who both suffered unfortunate accidents during the event. We are hopeful for a swift recovery for both.”
