Plymouth Centurions v King’s Lynn Young Stars

PLYMOUTH inflicted King’s Lynn’s first defeat of the season in the National Development Trophy with a 47-40 win at the Colisuem.

An eventful clash swung both ways with the Young Stars edging one point ahead thanks to back-to-back 4-2s in Heats 12 and 13.

But the Centurions re-took the lead with a 5-1 in Heat 14 after race leader Max Perry hit mechanical trouble, before Joe Thompson and Ben Trigger secured the win with another 5-1 in the last.

Thompson scored 14 for the Centurions with Trigger on 11+1, whilst Jody Scott top-scored for the Young Stars on 10+1.

King’s Lynn manager Jason Pipe said: “We can’t win them all, at some point we had to come up against a defeat.

“It’s a bit disappointing because they had rider replacement, but there was also some luck going both ways tonight so we just have to take the defeat on the chin and just move on.

“We are all positive. There’s no doom and gloom in the camp. We’ll move on to Wednesday and hopefully pick up some points at home to Kent.”
