Leicester Lion Cubs v Edinburgh Academy

LEICESTER moved ahead of Edinburgh in the WSRA National Development League table with a 55-35 home win over the Monarchs Academy.

Ben Trigger scored a 14+1 paid maximum for the Lion Cubs with Max Perry scoring 13 from five rides, whilst Cooper Rushen (12) won his first four outings before running a last in Heat 15.

Reserve Ryan Ingram also impressed for the home side with 10+3 as they pulled away in the second half of the meeting, having been just four points ahead after Heat 9.

For the Monarchs Academy there was a super showing from youngster Jordy Loftus at reserve as he raced to 14+2 from seven rides.

Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “I didn’t expect that scoreline, I thought it would be a lot closer, but it went really well for us overall.

“Ben scored a great maximum and I think Cooper would have had one as well if it had been earlier in the meeting, but he can also learn a lot from that race.”

Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “The scoreline doesn’t make for great reading but I think it’s harsh on us if I’m honest.

“We battled hard in the early part of the meeting and kept Leicester close for nine heats. They are a quality side, the best in the league in my opinion, and that quality told in the end.”
