LAMBERT SECURES SECOND
ROBERT Lambert has secured runners-up position in the FIM World Championship – with Dan Bewley making it two British riders in the top four overall.
Lambert missed out on reaching the semi-finals in Saturday’s final GP of the season in Torun, but he still had enough points to hold off Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren for silver, as the Swede finished fourth on the night and had to be content with bronze overall.
He said: “I don’t really feel like I got the job done at all after the performance that I put in. It was a very tough night.
“I couldn’t really get things going. But with my consistency throughout the season, I secured my silver medal. I am super proud and happy to be sitting here with a silver around my neck.”
It was also Bewley’s best-ever GP season, and third place in Torun was enough to elevate the Belle Vue star to fourth in the final standings.
With Lambert and Bewley having also won the FIM Speedway of Nations for GB earlier this summer, their next target is to challenge five-time World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik for the individual crown in 2025.
The Pole rounded off the GP campaign with another win in Torun ahead of Leon Madsen, Bewley and Lindgren.
