PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v POOLE (BSN SERIES S/F)
POOLE take a 28-point lead to Workington tonight (Saturday) as they look to book a place in another BSN Series Final.
The Pirates, who are the holders of the trophy, won the first leg 59-31 and are strong favourites to go through.
Jye Etheridge and Jason Edwards make guest appearances for the Comets in place of injured duo Claus Vissing and Tate Zischke, whilst Ben Trigger steps in at reserve for the Pirates with Vinnie Foord still ruled out.
Comets boss James Denham said: “28 points is obviously a huge amount to claw back, ideally we would have liked the away leg score a bit tighter, but 28 points isn’t impossible. It’s speedway and anything can happen over 15 heats”
“Most of our lads have been riding often enough to keep race fit though with Cookie (Craig Cook) having some great rides in the Premiership for Leicester lately and Batch (Troy Batchelor) also picking up some rides in the Premiership with some guest bookings.
“As well as that Antti (Vuolas) is going good at reserve for Belle Vue as well so it keeps us sharp, which is what we need for Saturday to make sure we hit them hard from the off.”
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “We’ve set ourselves up nicely with a strong performance at home in the first leg.
“Our riders have already proven they like the track, so the focus is on closing this one out and securing our spot in BSN Series Final.”
