PREVIEW: GLASGOW v REDCAR (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

GLASGOW and Redcar meet in a crunch Cab Direct Championship match tonight (Friday) with both sides looking to maintain play-off aspirations.

The Tigers have three matches remaining and are likely to need three wins and at least two aggregate points to reach the top four, whilst the Bears require a win tonight in their final fixture and then need assistance from elsewhere.

Glasgow again track Tom Spencer as a guest for the injured Jason Garrad, whilst the visitors bring in Danyon Hume to replace Connor Bailey with rider replacement for eye infection victim Dan Gilkes.

Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “We’ve got a lot to do to keep our top four hopes alive. But while it is mathematically possible, we have to fight for everything.

“I’ve told the boys that we have three cup finals left. We need three huge performances and see where that takes us.

“Redcar are a very good side. They’ve had their own problems but they have two great riders in Charles Wright and Danny King who both love Ashfield. That makes them a real threat.”

Bears boss Gavin Parr said: “We will be going to do a job on the Tigers, we are confident and if we are on song, there’s no reason why we can’t go and win.

“We will be running rider replacement and I’m confident we can cover that with the boys who can take (Gilkes’) rides.

“Also, we are bringing in Danyon at No.3, Danyon was a Glasgow rider and also one of our match winners last season there in the Cup so hopefully that plays into our hands.”

GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Jack Smith, Anders Rowe, Matic Ivacic, Leon Flint, James Pearson, Tom Spencer.
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Dan Gilkes r/r, Danyon Hume, Jason Edwards, Danny King, Ben Trigger, Jake Mulford.
