PREVIEW: OXFORD v LEICESTER (WSRA NDL)
OXFORD host Leicester at Cowley today (Sunday) in the meeting which could officially decide the WSRA National Development League title.
The Lion Cubs are all-but mathematically there with their points difference advantage over the Chargers, but the aggregate point on the day would make completely certain, and they take a 47-41 lead into the contest.
The hosts call up Connor Coles to guest for the injured Jason Garrad with Declan Killeen making his debut at reserve, whilst the Lion Cubs have rider replacement for Vinnie Foord but captain Joe Thompson is available after his match for Plymouth at Workington was called off.
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “I’m proud how the Chargers have gone this season and the meeting against Leicester is the last chance for our supporters to see the Chargers racing at home as a team this year.
“It’s fair to say that Leicester are highly likely to succeed us as WSRA National League champions.
“But we’d love to become the first team to defeat them this season and spoil their 100 per cent record, while the aggregate bonus point is also certainly not out of grasp.”
Lion Cubs manager Dave Howard said: “The team have been fantastic all year and that’s why we’re in this superb position.
“It will be a tough one at Oxford but together, the team are full of confidence and they want to clinch the title now.”
