GILKES MISSES OUT
DAN Gilkes has been ruled out of Sheffield’s final three regular ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixtures.
The Tigers’ Rising Star, who also rides for Redcar in the Championship, has been out of action this week with an eye infection – something which has now been diagnosed as more serious.
His social media racing page statement said: “After two appointments at Eye Casualty, they diagnosed ‘Anterior Uveitis’.
“In 2021, Dan was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (inflammation of the spine), which has not caused any issues.
“Unfortunately ‘Anterior Uveitis’ is an inflammatory condition of the eye that is directly linked to the Ankylosing Spondylitis.
“Due to the inflammation, his vision out of his left eye has been severely affected.
“He has a further eye appointment on Friday 30th, which he hopes will show an improvement and will have a better idea of when he can get back to racing.”
Sheffield have booked Joe Thompson to guest in their Bank Holiday Monday home and away double header against Belle Vue.
