PREVIEW: REDCAR v PLYMOUTH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
REDCAR host Plymouth at the ECCO Arena tonight (Friday) in a clash of two teams who can still mathematically make the Cab Direct Championship play-offs.
Both are outsiders due to fixtures elsewhere with the Bears able to finish one point ahead of Workington’s current total, whilst the Gladiators need a run of wins from a busy weekend.
The home side have called up their former team members Jordan Jenkins and Danyon Hume to guest for Dan Gilkes and Connor Bailey, whilst the visitors have Drew Kemp replacing the injured Nico Covatti.
And the Bears will also parade the Championship Pairs trophy pre-meeting following their victory at Oxford last Friday.
Manager Gavin Parr said: “It’s important we win against Plymouth to continue to build some key momentum ahead of our cup semi-final against Oxford.
“We’ve had a tough time in 2024, some of it our own doing but a lot of it we have had no control over.
“The Pairs has served us well, we’ve had two wins and a runners-up berth and it was great to give something back to the fans who had travelled. Parading the trophy before the match will give us another chance to say thank you to the fans who have stuck by us.”
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jordan Jenkins, Danyon Hume, Jason Edwards, Danny King, Ben Trigger, Jake Mulford.
PLYMOUTH: Drew Kemp, Alfie Bowtell, Dan Thompson, Patrick Baek, Ben Barker, Joe Thompson, Jacob Hook.
SCB Referee: Graeme Hunter
